มนุษย์เราทุกคนล้วนอยากมีชีวิตที่ดี และมีความสุขด้วยกันทั้งนั้น แต่ก็น่าแปลกว่า
ในขณะที่เราต้องการ “ความสุข” หรือ “ความสบายกายสบายใจ ” นั้น
มนุษย์เรากลับดำเนินชีวิตที่พาตัวเราเอง ไปสู่หนทางแห่งความทุกข์เสียเป็นส่วนใหญ่ เช่น
มีเงินเดือนพออยู่พอกินอยู่แล้ว แต่อยากจะเป็นเจ้าของพวกเครื่องอำนวยความสะดวกหรือ
ความทันสมัยทั้งหลาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นรถ มือถือ เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ กระเป๋าเสื้อผ้าแบรนด์เนม
จนต้องตั้งหน้าตั้งตาหาเงินตัวเป็นเกลียว หัวเป็นน็อต เพื่อให้ได้ของเหล่านี้มา
ทำให้ตัวเองต้องลำบากหรือเป็นหนี้เป็นสิน และมีทุกข์ไม่จบสิ้น ดังนี้เป็นต้น

ถ้าในทางพุทธศาสนา เขาก็ว่ากิเลส ตัณหา ความอยากมี อยากเป็น อยากได้หรือไม่อยากมี
ไม่อยากเป็นและไม่อยากได้นั่นเอง ที่ทำให้คนเราเป็นทุกข์ ซึ่งพระพุทธองค์ ก็ทรงมีแนวทาง
ให้พุทธศาสนิกชนได้เลือกปฏิบัติ เพื่อความหลุดพ้นความทุกข์ในระดับต่างๆ กัน แต่ในที่นี้
กลุ่มประชาสัมพันธ์ สำนักงานคณะกรรมการวัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติ กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม จะขอนำ
“เคล็ดลับแห่งความสุข” ที่แม้มิใช่ธรรมะโดยตรง แต่ก็เป็นกลวิธีที่เราทุกคน
สามารถนำไปปฏิบัติเพื่อให้เกิด “ความสุขในเบื้องต้น” ได้อย่างง่ายๆ ดังนี้

1.รู้จักการเป็น“ผู้ให้ ”
เขาบอกว่า เคล็ดลับของความสุขข้อแรกคือ ต้องรู้จักการเป็น “ผู้ให้”การ“ให้ ” ในที่นี้
จะเป็นสิ่งของ ความรู้ น้ำใจข้อแนะนำหรือสิ่งอื่นใดก็ได้ที่เป็นประโยชน์และไม่เป็นโทษต่อผู้รับ
พระพุทธเจ้าบอกว่า “ผู้ให้ ย่อมผูกไมตรีไว้ได้ ” นั่นก็หมายความว่า ใครก็ตามที่เป็น “ผู้ให้”
ย่อมสร้างไมตรีให้เกิดขึ้นในใจของผู้รับ ทำให้เกิดความรู้สึกที่ดี และเป็นมิตรต่อกัน
ถ้าใครเคย “ให้” จะรู้ว่าใบหน้าที่เบิกบาน ยินดีของผู้รับ จะทำให้เราผู้ให้เกิดความสุขและ
ปลื้มปีติเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นเท่าตัว ในยุทธภพเขาว่า “ความสุขเป็นสิ่งประหลาดยิ่ง มันหาได้ลดน้อยลง
เพราะท่านแบ่งปันแก่ผู้อื่นไม่ ท่านยิ่งแบ่งปันกับผู้อื่นมากขึ้น ความสุขที่ท่านมียิ่งเพิ่มพูน ”

2. หากัลยาณมิตร
การมีเพื่อนที่ดี ย่อมทำให้ชีวิตของเรามีความสุข และมีความหมายยิ่งขึ้น
เพราะอย่างน้อยเมื่อเราประสบความสำเร็จ ก็มีเพื่อนร่วมแสดงความยินดีด้วยอย่างจริงใจ
หรือหากผิดหวัง พลาดพลั้งในชีวิต กัลยาณมิตรก็จะช่วยปลุกปลอบให้กำลังใจ
หรือคอยแนะนำช่วยเหลือ ทำให้เราไม่รู้สึกอ้างว้างโดดเดี่ยวในโลกกว้างใบนี้ ในยุทธจักรเขาว่า
“ท่ามกลางลมหนาวและพายุร้าย หากที่นั่นมีสหาย ทั้งหมดจะกลายเป็นลมหายใจอันอบอุ่น
ที่ซึ่งมีมิตรแท้ จักอบอุ่นและเจิดจ้าตลอดกาล ”

3. ใช้ชีวิตเรียบง่าย
ถ้าพูดแบบสมัยนี้ก็คือ ให้ดำรงชีวิตแบบปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง คือ รู้จักความเพียงพอ
โดยเฉพาะในเรื่องปัจจัยสี่ อันได้แก่ อาหาร เครื่องนุ่งห่ม ที่อยู่อาศัย และยารักษาโรค
บางคนอาจจะสงสัยว่า เพียงพอในเรื่องยารักษาโรคนี่เป็นอย่างไร ก็คงต้องบอกว่า
ในปัจจุบัน หลายคนกินยาสารพัดทั้งที่จำเป็นและไม่จำเป็น เพราะมีให้เลือกมากมาย ดังนั้น
จึงต้องรู้จักประมาณตนในทุกเรื่อง อย่าตกเป็นทาสของลัทธิบริโภคนิยม ที่ต้องวิ่งตามโลก
ไม่ได้หยุดได้หย่อน เพราะจะทำให้เราเหนื่อยเกินไป และสร้างความท้อแท้ให้แก่ชีวิตได้ง่าย
ยุทธจักรเขาบอกว่า“ในโลกนี้ก็มีแต่คนที่รู้จักพอ จึงสามารถได้ลิ้มรสความเบิกบานที่แท้จริง”

4. คาดหวังให้น้อยลง
ชีวิตคนเราที่เป็นทุกข์สารพัดทุกวันนี้ ส่วนหนึ่งมาจากการ “คาดหวัง” เช่น
หวังว่าจะสอบได้ที่ 1,หวังว่าจะได้ตำแหน่ง,หวังว่าเขาจะรักเรา,หวังว่าจะได้มรดก,หวังว่าเจ้านายจะขึ้นเงินเดือน,
หวังว่าพ่อจะซื้อรถให้ ฯลฯ ความคาดหวังเหล่านี้ทำให้เราต้องพบกับ “ความผิดหวัง” อยู่เสมอ
และทำให้เราหดหู่ ห่อเ***่ยวใจเมื่อไม่สมปรารถนา ดังนั้น หวังได้ แต่หวังให้น้อยลง
และจงตั้ง “ความหวัง” ในสิ่งที่เป็นไปได้ และไม่ยากจนเกินความสามารถของเรา
หากไม่ได้ดังหวังก็ต้องหัด “ปลง” เสียบ้าง ในยุทธภพจึงสอนว่า
“ คนผู้หนึ่งขอเพียงปลงได้ตก ในโลกก็ไม่มีเรื่องใดควรคู่ให้ปวดร้าวกลัดกลุ้มอีก ”

5. จง "ละ “ความโกรธ เกลียด ” ลงบ้าง
หลายๆ ครั้งในชีวิตเราอาจจะต้องเจอะเจอกับบุคคล เหตุการณ์หรือสถานที่ที่เราไม่พึงใจ
ทำให้เราเกิดความรู้สึกโกรธ เกลียดในสิ่งที่พบ อยากจะหลีกลี้หนีห่าง
แต่บางครั้งก็ไม่อาจจะหลบไปได้ ต้องทนอยู่กับคนหรือสิ่งที่เราเกลียดอยู่เสมอ
ทำให้เกิดความเครียด และทุกข์ใจ ดังนั้น วิธีแก้ตรงจุดที่สุด คือ ต้องลดความโกรธหรือ
ความเกลียด ที่เป็นสาเหตุให้เกิดทุกข์ให้น้อยลง ด้วยการอย่ามัวแต่เพ่งจับผิด แต่ให้ใช้หลัก
เมตตาและให้อภัย โดยเฉพาะกับคนหรือสัตว์ หรือหากยังทำใจเมตตาไม่ได้ อย่างน้อยก็ให้
“วางเฉย” คิดเสมอว่าอย่าให้สิ่งเหล่านี้มามีอิทธิพลเหนือจิตใจเรา ซึ่งคนในยุทธภพเขาว่า
“ความเปลี่ยนแปลง และการประสบกับสิ่งที่ไม่พอใจ คือชีวิตของคน หากท่านเข้าใจชีวิต
คนอย่างถ่องแท้ ความเศร้าเสียใจของท่านจะลดน้อยลง และความสุขในใจจะเกิดขึ้น”

6. จง “รักและพอใจงานที่ทำ” เพราะมันเป็นส่วนสำคัญ
และกินเวลาเกือบครึ่งค่อนของชีวิตของเรา หากเราไม่ “รักงาน”ของเราแล้ว ชีวิตที่เหลือคงเป็น
ทุกข์ไม่จบสิ้นและเราก็ต้องจมปลักไปกับความเบื่อที่ยาวนาน การที่เราจะรักงานที่เราทำได้
เราจะต้องพยายามศึกษาหาความรู้ในงานของเรา เพื่อให้รู้จักงานของเราอย่างถ่องแท้
จนพัฒนางานให้ก้าวหน้า อันจะนำมาซึ่งความสำเร็จ และความภาคภูมิใจให้แก่ตัวเราเองได้
ยุทธจักรเขาว่า “โชคของคน ย่อมไม่ร่วงหล่นลงมาจากฟ้าเอง ”

7. ทำตน “ใฝ่รู้” อยู่เสมอ
เช่น อ่านหนังสือทุกชนิด เรียนคอมพิวเตอร์ อบรมภาษา ฯลฯ เพราะจะทำให้เราไม่ล้าสมัย
หรือตกยุค แต่จะรู้สึกกระปรี้กระเปร่า มีชีวิตชีวาอยู่ตลอดเวลา ไม่เป็นคนอมทุกข์ เหงาหงอย

เวลลิงตัน-ผลศึกษาชี้คนที่นั่งทำงานอยู่หน้าจอคอมพ์นานๆ เสี่ยงเป็นโรคลิ่มเลือดอุดตันขั้นรุนแรง

กรุงเทพ ธุรกิจออนไลน์ : ศ.ริชาร์ด บีสลีย์ แห่งสถาบันวิจัยทางการแพทย์ ในเมืองเวลลิงตัน ประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ได้เผยผลศึกษาว่า พนักงานบริษัทที่นั่งทำงานอยู่หน้าจอคอมพิวเตอร์เป็นเวลานานหลายชั่วโมงใน แต่ละวัน มีแนวโน้มที่จะป็นโรคลิ่มเลือดอุดตันขั้นร้ายแรงมากเสียยิ่งกว่าผู้โดยสาร ที่นั่งเครื่องบินชั้นประหยัดเป็นเวลานานๆ เสียอีก

ผลศึกษาชิ้นนี้ ระบุว่า 1 ใน 3 ของคนไข้ที่ถูกนำตัวส่งโรงพยาบาลเพื่อรักษาอาการลิ่มเลือดแข็งตัวในหลอด เลือดดำที่อยู่ในชั้นลึกของขา ที่เรียกสั้นๆ ว่า "ดีวีที" นั้นเป็นพนักงานบริษัทที่ใช้เวลานั่งอยู่หน้าจอคอมพิวเตอร์เป็นเวลานาน โดยคนไข้มากถึง 34% ที่ถูกนำตัวมารักษาอาการลิ่มเลือดอุดตันนั้นจะนั่งติดโต๊ะทำงานเป็นเวลานาน ในขณะที่สัดส่วนของคนไข้ที่เป็นโรคนี้เพราะนั่งเครื่องบินโดยสารชั้นประหยัด เป็นระยะทางไกลๆ นั้นอยู่ที่ 21% เท่านั้น

ทั้งนี้ ดีวีทีเป็นสภาวะที่เลือดจะจับตัวเป็นลิ่มในหลอดเลือดดำที่อยู่ในชั้นลึกของ ขาทั้งสองข้าง ซึ่งอาการที่อาจเป็นอันตรายถึงชีวิตได้หากว่าลิ่มเลือดที่ขาหลุดออกแล้วเข้า ไปขวางหลอดเลือดในปอด หรือในสมอง โดยก่อนหน้านี้เคยมีคดีที่สร้างความฮือฮาไปทั่วโลกมาแล้ว เมื่อหญิงสาวชาวอังกฤษวัย 28 ปี ซึ่งโดยสารเครื่องบินชั้นประหยัดของสายการบินแควนตัส จากออสเตรเลียมายังอังกฤษ ซึ่งใช้เวลาเดินทางทั้งหมด 20 ชั่วโมง เกิดอาการไม่สบายและเสียชีวิตขึ้น

ผลการชันสูตรพบว่า หญิงสาวผู้นี้เกิดภาวะดีวีทีที่ขาแล้วลิ่มเลือดเกิดหลุดไปอุดหลอดเลือดที่ หัวใจและปอด จนทำให้อาการของโรคนี้ถูกเรียกกันอย่างแพร่หลายว่า โรคชั้นประหยัด หรืออีคอโนมี คลาส ซินโดรม ทั้งๆ ที่ในความเป็นจริงแล้วไม่ได้เกิดจากการนั่งเครื่องบินเป็นเวลานานเพียงอย่าง เดียว

ผลการศึกษาหลายชิ้นพบว่า ภาวะเลือดจับตัวเป็นลิ่มจะเกิดขึ้นในสัดส่วน 10% ของผู้โดยสารทางอากาศที่อยู่สภาวะเสี่ยงสูง และ 1% ของผู้โดยสารทุกประเภท ส่วนการบำบัดรักษานั้นทำโดยการให้ยาละลายลิ่มเลือด ซึ่งต้องใช้เวลานานหลายเดือน

ในส่วน ของพนักงานบริษัทนั้น ศาสตราจารย์บีสลีย์ กล่าวว่า คนที่มีอาการเลือดจับตัวเป็นลิ่มนั้นจะนั่งอยู่หน้าจอวันละ 14 ชั่วโมง โดยบางคนนั้นจะนั่งอยู่ครั้งละนานถึง 3-4 ชั่วโมง โดยไม่ลุกไปไหนเลย ทั้งยังชี้ชัดลงไปว่า อาการนี้พบได้บ่อยที่สุดในหมู่ผู้ที่ทำงานไอทีและคอล เซ็นเตอร์

Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

บางอย่างก็หาได้ง่าย แถมราคาไม่แพงด้วย อาหารเหล่านี้ช่วยล้างพิษให้
แก่อวัยวะต่างๆ ในร่างกาย เช่น ตับ ลำไส้ ไต ผิวหนัง

เช่น ปรอท ตะกั่ว ซึ่งทำลายเซลล์สมอง
นี่คือเหตุผลที่เราควรจะกินแอปเบิลเพื่อล้างสารพิษออกจากร่างกาย

ตั้งอยู่ในเขตพื้นที่ตำบลแม่งอน อำเภอฝาง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ อยู่ห่างจากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่ไปทางทิศเหนือ 162 กม. ดอยอ่างขางตั้งอยู่บนเทือกเขาตะนาวศรีติดพรมแดนประเทศพม่า มีลักษณะเป็นแอ่งที่ราบในหุบเขาลักษณะเหมือนท้องกะทะหรือเหมือนอ่าง อยู่ที่ระดับความสูงประมาณ 1,400 เมตร และมียอดดอยสูงถึง 1,928 เมตร ปัจจุบันดอยอ่างขางได้เปลี่ยนสภาพจากภูเขาซึ่งถูกตัดไม้ทำลายป่ามาเป็นพื้นที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ มีพันธุ์ไม้ผลกว่า 12 ชนิด ผักเมืองหนาวกว่า 60 ชนิด และไม้ดอกเมืองหนาวมากกว่า 20 ชนิด สภาพอากาศเย็นสบายตลอดทั้งปี อุณหภูมิเฉลี่ยประมาณ 16.9 องศาเซลเซียส มีชาวไทยภูเขาเผ่าจีนฮ่อ ไทยใหญ่ มูเซอดำ และปะหล่อง อาศัยอยู่โดยรอบกว่า 600 ครัวเรือนใน 6 หมู่บ้าน

1.2แยกที่ กม.137 เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าทางหลวงหมายเลข 1249 มีระยะทางถึงอ่างขางประมาณ 25 กม. เป็นเส้นทางที่สั้นแต่ชันมาก ถ้าไม่แน่ใจว่ารถจะขึ้นได้ ให้จอดรถไว้ที่วัดที่ปากทาง กม.137 หรือจอดรถไว้ที่บริเวณลานจอดรถเอกชนมีรั้วมิดชิด สถานที่รับจอดรถอยู่ตรงข้ามกับปากทางเข้าดอยอ่างขาง ค่ารถจอดคันละ 50 บาท แล้วนั่งรถสองแถวขึ้นไป หรือเหมารถขึ้นไป ราคาเหมา 1,000 - 1,500 บาท

ภาษาอินดิค(Indic language) คล้ายกับภาษาเบงกาลีที่ใช้พูดในประเทศบังกลาเทศและอินเดีย (ชาวโรฮิงยาส์ไม่ได้พูดภาษามาลายูหรือภาษายาวีตามที่นักข่าวไทยบางสำนักซึ่งทำข่าวเรื่องโรฮิงยาส์อ้าง แต่พูดภาษาชิตตาโกเนี่ยน - Chittagonian คล้ายกับภาษาในพื้นที่ Chittagong ในประเทศบังกลาเทศ)

ประมาณ 7 แสนถึง 1.5 ล้านคนในรัฐอารากันที่มีประชากรมากถึง 3 ล้านคน

ประวัติศาสตร์
มีรายงานและงานวิจัยหลายส่วนที่ให้ข้อมูลไว้ว่าเป็นผู้คนที่อยู่ในตอนเหนือ รัฐอารากันมาตั้งแต่สมัยศตวรรษที่ 7-12 และได้นับถือศาสนาอิสลามเนื่องจากพื้นที่ทางตอนเหนือของรัฐอารากันมีพ่อค้า ชาวอาหรับเข้ามาค้าขายเป็นเวลายาวนาน

มุมมองของรัฐบาลพม่า
ชาวโรฮิงยาส์เป็นประชาชนที่ "ลี้ภัยอย่างผิดกฎหมาย" และอพยพมากจากประเทศบังกลาเทศในสมัยที่พม่าตกอยู่ภายใต้อาณานิคมของจักรวรรดินิยมอังกฤษ ดังนั้นด้วยทัศนคติเช่นนี้ของรัฐบาลเผด็จการพม่าทำให้ประชาชนชาวโรฮิงยาส์ไม่ได้รับการรวมเข้าไปในกลุ่มชนพื้นเมือง (Indigenous groups) ในรัฐธรรมนูญพม่า ส่งผลให้ไม่ได้รับสัญชาติพม่า ไม่สามารถแต่งงานได้ ถูกบังคับให้ทำงานโดยไม่ได้รับค่าตอบแทน และไม่สามารถเดินทางออกนอกเพื่อไปประกอบอาชีพนอกพื้นที่ได้ ทำให้ประชาชนส่วนใหญ่มีสภาพความเป็นอยู่ที่ยากจนมาก
นอกจากนี้ชุมชนชาวโรฮิงยาส์ยังได้รับการปราบปรามอย่างต่อเนื่องโดยมีเหตุการณ์สำคัญในปี ค.ศ. 1962 1978 และ 1991 ทำให้มีผู้ลี้ภัยชาวโรฮิงยาส์หลบหนีภัยเข้าไปในบังกลาเทศ ปากีสถาน ซาอุดิอาราเบีย เป็นหลัก โดยที่ประเทศรองลงมา คือ สหรัฐอาหรับเอมิเรด มาเลเซีย และประเทศไทย

สถานการณ์ในประเทศมาเลเซียและบังกลาเทศ
ผู้ลี้ภัยชาวโรฮิงยาส์ในมาเลเซียมักจะได้รับการคุมขังเป็นระยะเวลาหลายเดือน ในค่ายกักกัน โดยไม่ได้อาหาร ยารักษาโรค หรือสภาพความเป็นอยู่ที่ตามหลักสิทธิมนุษยชนสากล บางกรณีได้รับการข่มขู่หรือซ้อมก่อนถูกส่งกลับตัวมาประเทศไทย ซึ่งมีหลาย ๆ ครั้งที่แม้แต่สำนักงานข้าหลวงผู้ลี้ภัยแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNHCR) ยังไม่สามารถเข้าไปให้การช่วยเหลือทางกฎหมายได้
ในส่วนของบังกลาเทศ ในปี 1978 ประชาชนชาวโรฮิงยาส์มากกว่า 2 แสนคนลี้ภัยไปประเทศบังกลาเทศ หลังจาก ยุทธการกษัตริย์มังกร (Dragon King) โดยกองทัพทหารพม่าที่ทำขึ้น เพื่อ "กำจัดบุคคลที่อาศัยอยู่ในประเทศ ซึ่งรวมถึงประชาชนและชาวต่างชาติที่เข้าประเทศอย่างผิดกฎหมาย" กระบวนการนี้มีนโยบายโดยตรงต่อประชาชนผู้บริสุทธิ์จนนำไปสู่การฆ่า ข่มขืน และทำลายมัสยิดต่างในพื้นที่
ในช่วงปี 1992-1993 ประชากรโรฮิงยาส์อีกกว่า 250,000 คนหลบหนีเข้าไปในบังกลาเทศอีกระลอกซึ่งได้มีรายงานเป็นจำนวนมากเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์การสังหารชาวโรฮิงยาส์อย่างเป็นระบบ (summary executions) การทรมาน และการข่มขืนในประเทศพม่า รวมถึงกรณีการถูกบังคับเป็นแรงงานเยี่ยงทาสโดยไม่ได้รับการค่าตอบแทนใดๆ โดยทหารพม่า
ในระหว่างปี 1992-1994 รัฐบาลบังกลาเทศได้ส่งตัวประชาชนโรฮิงยาส์มากกว่า 5 หมื่นคนกลับพม่าโดยการทำความเข้าใจระหว่างรัฐบาลบังกลาเทศกับรัฐบาลพม่า และล่าสุดนี้บ้านพักของผู้ลี้ภัยชาวโรฮิงยาส์กว่า 6,000 คนที่อาศัยอยู่ตามแม่น้ำนาฟ (Naff) ติดกับชายแดนพม่า กำลังถูกรัฐบาลไล่ที่โดยอ้างว่าเป็นการสร้างที่อยู่อาศัยโดยผิดกฎหมาย ซึ่ง UNHCR ได้ประนามการดำเนินการครั้งนี้ว่าเป็นการกระทำ "ที่ไม่มีมนุษยธรรมเนื่องจากไม่มีการหาทางออกให้กับประชาชนเหล่านี้เลย" และมีการรายงานหลายครั้งว่ารัฐบาลบังกลาเทศได้พยายามไม่ให้ชาวโรฮิงยาส์ได้รับการช่วยเหลือจาก UNHCR (วันที่ 8 มีนาคม 2550)

ชาวโรฮิงยาส์ในประเทศไทย
มีประมาณ 10,000 ถึง 15,000 คน โดยส่วนใหญ่อยู่ที่จังหวัดระนองและมหาชัย จังหวัดสมุทรสาคร รัฐบาลไทยก็ยังไม่ได้มีการสำรวจประชาชนโรฮิงยาส์อย่างจริงจัง
มีการเข้าใจผิดๆ ว่าชาวโรฮิงยาส์พูดภาษามาลายูหรือเป็นกลุ่มนักรบรับจ้าง ซึ่งเป็นข้อมูลที่ไม่มีข้อเท็จจริงสนับสนุนแต่อย่างใด

Following the lead of mobile phone carriers, several VoIP carriers are already implementing a technical work-around. The United States government had set a deadline, requiring VoIP carriers to implement e911, however, the deadline is being appealed by several of leading VoIP companies.

This is a different situation with IPBX systems, where these corporate systems often have full e911 capabilities built into the system.

A simple solution to this problem is to store the local emergency numbers on speed dial which is usually even faster than having to be transfered by the 911 operator.

Integration into global telephone number system

Whilst the traditional Plain Old Telephone System (POTS) and mobile phone networks share a common global standard (E.164) which allocates and identifies any specific telephone line, there is no widely adopted similar standard for VoIP networks. Some allocate an E.164 number which can be used for VoIP as well as incoming/external calls. However, there are often different, incompatible schemes when calling between VoIP providers which use short codes that are provider specific.

Mobile phones

Telcos and consumers have invested billions of dollars in mobile phone equipment. In developed countries, mobile phones have achieved nearly complete market penetration, and many people are giving up landlines and using mobiles exclusively. Given this situation, it is not entirely clear whether there would be a significant higher demand for VoIP among consumers until either a) public or community wireless networks have similar geographical coverage to cellular networks (thereby enabling mobile VoIP phones, so called WiFi phones) or b) VoIP is implemented over legacy 3G networks. However, "dual mode" handsets, which allow for the seamless handover between a cellular network and a WiFi network, are expected to help VoIP become more popular.

Mass-market telephony

A major development starting in 2004 has been the introduction of mass-market VoIP services over broadband Internet access services, in which subscribers make and receive calls as they would over the PSTN. This requires an analog telephone adapter (ATA) to connect a telephone to the broadband Internet connection. Companies in the U.S., such as Vonage, AT&T, Cablevision, Broadvoice, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Verizon, Packet8, Lingo, and SunRocket, use IP to offer unlimited calling to the U.S., and sometimes to Canada or to selected countries in Europe or Asia, for a flat monthly fee. One advantage of this is the ability to make and receive calls as one would at home, anywhere in the world, at no extra cost. As calls go via IP, this does not incur charges as call diversion does via the PSTN, and the called party does not have to pay for the call.

For example, somebody may call someone on a number with a U.S. area code, but one could be in London, and if someone were to call another number with that area code, it would be treated as a local call, regardless of where that person is in the world. However, the broadband phone is likely to complement, rather than replace a PSTN line, as it still needs a power supply, while calling the U.S. emergency services number 911, may not automatically be routed to the nearest local emergency dispatch center, or be of any use for subscribers outside the U.S.

Another challenge for these services is the proper handling of outgoing calls from fax machines, TiVo/ReplayTV boxes, satellite television receivers, alarm systems, conventional modems or FAXmodems, and other similar devices that depend on access to a voice-grade telephone line for some or all of their functionality. At present, these types of calls sometimes go through without any problems, but in other cases they will not go through at all. And in some cases, this equipment can be made to work over a VoIP connection if the sending speed can be changed to a lower bits per second rate. If VoIP and cellular substitution becomes very popular, some ancillary equipment makers may be forced to redesign equipment, because it would no longer be possible to assume a conventional voice-grade telephone line would be available in almost all homes in North America and Western-Europe. How to Cook Rice Right

The easiest way to make rice well every time is to use a rice cooker. If you don't have one, or don't want one, though, here's a no-fail recipe for rice that one of my grandmothers taught my mother, who taught me. This one, I use mainly for seasoned rice dishes because things can be added to it before boiling, or broth (a plain soup) can be used in place of water.

This is for 4 substantial servings (4 rice bowls).

You will need:

1 large saucepan, or a short pot.

2 cups of white rice, preferably persian, glutinous, or converted, depending on how sticky you like it.

2 tablespoons of butter, margarine, rendered fat, or vegetable oil.

water or broth as needed (usually 3 to 3.5 cups)

salt to taste

Directions:

1.Put the rice in the bottom of the saucepan, and wash it thoroughly by rinsing, and then pouring off the cloudy water. Repeat until you

can recognize grains of rice through the water, and then pour this last rinse out.

2.Put your middle finger in the saucepan until it touches the bottom, and put in water or broth until the level reaches the second line of

your finger.

3.Add your salt and oil.

4.Place on the stove, and cover loosely, which means there should be a centimeter of space between the side of the cover and the edge

of the pot or saucepan.

5.Turn on the stove at medium/low heat, and leave it alone for about 20 minutes.

6.Check to see if it's done, and if not, come back every 5 minutes.

7.If you need to check, and can't tell from looking at the top, stick a spoon in the middle, and push gently to the side to see if there is any

water left. If there is, then move the rice back to cover the hole. Try not to touch it too much.

8.If you run out of water before the rice is the level of softness you want, in the well you make in it for checking, just pour a quarter cup

of hot water to the middle, and move the rice back over to cover the water.

9.When it's done, turn off the heat, and cover the rice completely, and let it sit for 5 minutes.

10.Stir, and then serve.

Then, there is the other absolute sure-fire way that my other grandmother taught me. This is how I cook rice when I want it somewhat plain.

You will need:

However much rice you want up to 5 cups.

A pot of water, salted, with about a tablespoon of oil

A strainer

A large bowl

Directions:

1.Set the pot of oiled and salted water on high heat.

2.In a large bowl, rinse the rice repeatedly, until the water is somewhat clear.

3.Drain as much water as you can from the rice, and then wait 'til your water on the stove boils.

4.When the water reaches a fast, rolling boil, gently pour in the rice.

5.Stir to make sure the rice doesn't stick together, and then wait.

6.Occasionally stir the rice, and after 10 minutes, check to see if it's done.

7.Check every two minutes after that, and when it's as soft as you like, turn off the heat and then pour the contents of the pot into a

strainer.

8.Shake the strainer a bit, to get out as much excess water as possible, and then return the rice to the now empty pot.

9.Season to taste, and then serve.

Rice cooked this way can also be used for rice balls, unless it is parboiled rice. Parboiled rice should never be used if you prefer it sticky on its own, but is the best to use when making the deep fried breaded rice balls.

For golden coloured rice, stir a teaspoon of turmeric into the water before the rice begins to cook.

Seasoning blocks or bouillon give a nice flavor to rice. It will need to be stirred after cooking to evenly distribute it though.

Use leftover rice to make fried rice. It can also be used to add a bit of starch to a meatloaf in place of bread crumbs.

Never let cooked rice sit out for more than a couple of hours without keeping it very hot. Rice turns very quickly. To serve it at parties that may last awhile, but keep it from burning at the bottom, put it in a pan atop a pan of water that is over a tea light or other warmer. To cool it off quickly before it turns after a meal, transfer it from the pot to smaller containers.

If you are on a salt restricted diet but don't like your rice too sweet, use a couple of dashes of pepper and salt free chicken broth to enhance the taste.

Aerobic Cross Training for Weight Loss

Do you sometimes get bored with your aerobic exercise? Do You sometimes feel like you're not getting the results you should from your aerobic exercise? If so, then aerobic cross-training is for you.

Aerobic cross-training refers to using two to three different types of aerobic exercise during an exercise session. For example, if you plan to exercise for 60 minutes, you might start with 20 minutes of walking or jogging, followed by 20 minutes of biking, and finish with 20 minutes of rowing.

Now, please don't get the impression that you have to be in great shape to do this or that it has to be 60 minutes long. You can start with something as simple as a ten minute walk followed by ten minutes with an exercise video. This is cross-training too. You can gradually build up from there.

Here are some of the exercises you can use in your cross-training program; walking, jogging, biking, rowing, stair climbing, swimming, exercise videos, etc. Any combination of aerobic exercises will do. You simply go from one to the next with very little time between them.

Aerobic cross-training is beneficial to you in several ways:

1. It provides variety which eliminates the monotony often associated with doing the same exercise for a long period of time.

2. If your exercise sessions are less monotonous and more enjoyable, you are much more likely to exercise more often and for longer periods of time.

3. You are less prone to over-use injuries that sometimes occur from doing the same exercise movements over and over again.

4. You tone more muscles because you are using more muscles. For example, walking tones mostly the lower body muscles and rowing tones upper body muscles also. Even exercises like walking and biking that both tone lower body muscles, tone them at different angles and each tones some small muscles that the other doesn't.

5. Aerobic conditioning is very specific to the muscles being worked. For example, you can walk ten miles a day and still be somewhat breathless after climbing stairs because you haven't trained the muscles for that specific movement. Aerobic cross-training allows you to develop more comprehensive aerobic training.

6. Aerobic cross-training is effective for weight loss because your are toning and training the fat-burning systems of more of your muscles. It turns more of your muscles into 24-hour fat-burning machines! You are also more likely to exercise on a regular basis and for longer periods of time. this also promotes weight loss and fitness.

Treating Adult Acne With Anti-aging Moisturizers

Softening the skin and relieving wrinkles with anti-aging moisturizers is becoming a welcome and effective method of treating acne. To date there is a large and growing number of people, especially adult women, who have benefited from new techniques that not only reduce acne but also improve aging skin.

There is connection between anti-aging and acne. In the 1970's two Dermatologists, Dr. Eugene Van Scott, and Dr. Albert Klingman begin investigating vitamin A as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide for the treatment of acne. Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in most over-the-counter acne remedies. such as Proactiv, Clearasil and others. Dr Klingman eventually developed Retin A, a derivative of vitamin A, and Dr. Van Scott began working with the structurally similar Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). Neither of these researchers attracted much attention until it was noted that women using these substances for acne were experiencing a reduction in skin wrinkling. Retin A and AHAs quickly became most widely used anti-aging skin care ingredients worldwide.

Acne and Wrinkling share the same problematic skin condition: excessive undetached dead skin tissue building up on the skin's surface. This stiffens the skin. Wrinkles result because a less flexible outer layer of skin creases the underlying growing tissue. The skin thus increasingly grows into deeper and more pronounced lines. Acne results when this dead skin tissue clogs pores and inhibits the normal passage of oils and moisture, causing whiteheads or blackheads and eventually pimples. Both AHAs and Benzoyl peroxide, however, can relieve this condition by exfoliating this dry outermost layer of the skin.

The problem is that benzoyl peroxide, while it is effective in removing oil, dries out the skin thus increasing the amount of dead skin tissue on the surface of the skin. This in turn clogs pores. For most women however, using moisturizers to relieve this dryness is not an option. The oils and waxes used in moisturizers aggravate acne because they compound pore blockage.

Several companies have worked to solve this problem and have developed moisturizers for acne prone skin. Murad and Olay have developed a number of products. Jojoba oil, while intensely moisturizing, is a fine oil with a far smaller molecular weight than sebum, or skin oil. This means to kill any concept of the Buddha as something apart from oneself.

To kill the Buddha is to BE the Buddha. Any concept we can have of the Buddha is so much smaller than the reality of what the Buddha actually is. And therefore any concept we have of the Buddha is limiting.

To experience the reality of the Buddha, we must destroy that concept in order to be free of the limitations.

Regardless of your spiritual beliefs, this analogy can be applied to coaches and coaching.

This means to kill any concept of being a Coach as something apart from oneself.

To kill the concept of Coach is to BE a coach. To kill the Coach means to throw away the idea that we can flick a switch and "Be A Coach" while on the phone with a client, then hang up, and flick that switch off.

Credit Damage: Getting Compensated for Your Loss

Until recently lawyers for victims of credit damage had little possibility to collect for damages beyond medical treatment, lost wages and property loss. Insurance companies threw up their hands in sympathy, claiming victims can only be compensated for what can be measured - tangible goods and services. But, what happens when the victim has lost considerable time from work, the family bank is broke and monthly payments on mortgages, car loans and credit cards payments are missed? Regardless of the haggling between lawyers and insurance companies, it's the credit victim who ends up having to live with a bad credit rating.

Today, there are legally accepted means for measuring loss of credit through the procedure of Credit Damage Measurement (CDM). CDM is fast becoming a potent tool for recoverable credit damage awards when the damage is not self-inflicted. Previously, both judge and jury, and especially the insurance companies, refused to acknowledge CDM claiming it was speculative because they could not define it as tangible damage.

However, in case after case, victims of credit damage who use the CDM method are getting compensation for credit loss. Many factors are changing the old mindset including credit bureau technology improvements, the application of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), risk scoring sophistication, and the development of CDM as an objective, repeatable method that measures out-of-pocket damage reliably.

Credit Ratings and Recovery

The impact of a bad credit rating is much more significant than most people think. Consider what poorly rated consumers face when they want to lease or buy vehicles, obtain credit cards, buy or lease or refinance their residence. In most cases, it's an easy decision for the creditor: the credit application is simply turned down or the borrower is charged a much higher down payment ? maybe thousands of dollars more with monthly payments that are typically several hundred dollars more.

"A person with bad credit is viewed with suspicion and is charged significantly more for future extension of credit because the lender feels the need to protect against a greater risk or default," says Tom Key, a civil litigator practicing in Tustin, CA.

"Over the years I have heard reports of financial damages from clients who have been wrongfully terminated, defrauded, injured in an accident or suffered losses from breach of contract," Key says. "These victims were especially distraught over the fact that their prime credit reputation, carefully nurtured for years, is destroyed overnight. It seemed to me that there must be a way to compensate victims for that type of loss."

Key has witnessed the reactions of many jurors who failed to award a victim of credit damage their rightful compensation simply because they could not quantify the damages. "Jurors want a specific loss that they can count, hold and see," says Key. "Their reasoning is that they need to know that it is genuine. They have a tough time awarding damages based on sympathy. In order for them to confirm authenticity of a claim, they want to see its quantification."

Measuring Loss of Creditworthiness

Assuring authenticity has been a sticky situation when it concerns measuring out-of-pocket loss for victims of credit damage - until now. Attorneys who represent victims of credit damage are now utilizing the Credit Damage Measurement method to recover out-of-pocket losses for their clients.

"CDM measures the actual out-of-pocket dollars reasonably expected from loss of creditworthiness, which includes higher down payments, higher points and costs on loans, higher interest rates, higher monthly payments, or outright denial of credit," says Key. "In addition, the CDM method also calculates the rates, costs and other terms applicable to the resulting credit rating by lenders and projects the results over the relevant number of years for the types of loans the client is likely to seek."

Key continues, "For example, if a client's credit was near perfect before a triggering event, and is subsequently damaged by the event, the CDM procedure can illustrate before and after analyses, calculating the cost of the same loans with the two different credit reports, Pre- injury credit compared to Post-injury credit." In many cases, CDM clients have already realized significant compensation. In one such case CDM was instrumental in recovering $56,000 for damaged credit reputation. "That calculation is the difference between what refinancing a $140,000 loan would have cost my client with their prior rating, and what it will cost them out-of-pocket with their damaged credit rating -measured over a seven-year period."

Isolated Compensation vs. Repeatable Compensation

The CDM method of measuring intangible credit loss is increasingly becoming the basis of recovery for victims of credit damage. It's changing the way judges and juries measure recoverable out-of-pocket loss, and then can compensate for loss of credit expectancy. Certainly there are still some skeptics, mostly defendants. Technically, credit damage measurement is intangible. However, CDM has proven an objective and practical procedure to calculate out-of-pocket damage for companies or families to compensate for their credit damage.

"To have this kind of measurement is an exciting complexity in our society," says Key. "CDM is very understandable and a rather simple way to come to a conclusion of loss for the victim. If you understand the math and are an expert at reading credit reports, the calculations and recovery are undeniable. It's a method of turning isolated compensation into repeatable compensation. It's changing the way jurors rule on these damaging cases. Because of this method, victims of credit damage can be more fairly and more completely compensated for out-of-pocket damage."

Working With Affiliate Programs

Everywhere you look you see affiliate program offers for
every product or service that you can think of. Some have
fully automated systems that sell high volumes of hard
products all over the world. In case you don't know, "hard"
products are those that you can touch...unlike an ebook or
downloadable web template. Many affiliate programs have
several thousand affiliates and one or two of the bigger
companies have over one million affiliates.

What are the advantages of joining an affiliate program?

They provide a ready-made business. This is a very big plus
for those people who want to earn some kind of living off
the Internet but lack the knowledge or inclination to set up
a business by themselves.

Commissions and rewards are generally good, and the more
established programs offer a real chance of advancement to
higher and better-paid levels.

Other affiliates are usually on hand to offer practical
support.

What are the limitations?

You are restricted in your promotional activities due to the
fact that you do not actually own the affiliate site they
give you. You won't be able to put such things as banners,
images, links, meta tags, etc. onto your page.
The URL of your affiliate page is often either too long or
contains such awkward things as question marks, which many
Search Engines will not index.

Any promotional ads or articles have probably already been
used by thousands of other people and consequently may have
lost its impact, making it more difficult to achieve sales
or referrals.

If the program you have joined has not yet established
itself (or in some cases even if it has), then you may
encounter problems with payments owed to you not being
honored. You also run the risk of low quality products or
sub-standard statistics that do not accurately record how
many referrals or sales you have made.

You may be required to purchase a minimum quantity of the
product on a regular basis before you start to qualify for
commissions or even before you can become an affiliate.
You may not get the technical or affiliate support you might
expect from the company. This may be due to inadequate
staffing, or the company's negligence.

Other people in your downline do nothing to promote the
program.

At least four of the above limitations can be overcome with
a little time and effort. You could, for example, come up
with fresher ads to promote the program (provided this is
allowed).

If the company supplies the email addresses of people in
your downline, then you could offer to help the less active
members. Very often these people are passive not because
they are lazy or apathetic but merely because they don't
know HOW to promote effectively! your guidance could mean
the difference between no sales or referrals and healthy
downlines and residual incomes.

As regards promoting your actual page, here are a couple of
little tricks that should overcome a number of
restrictions:

While this will not help you to get listed on the major
Search Engines, it will make your web page easier for
prospects to remember and type into their browser's address
bar.

Go to your affiliate page. Place your mouse pointer anywhere
on the page and right click once. In the drop-down box
choose "View Source". This will display the HTML for the
page. Save this to your hard drive as a HTML document using
the "Save As" function. Upload the page to your web site.
If you don't have a web site then get some free web space

put the other stuff, like banners etc, around it.

Making this "mirror page" of your affiliate page will
dramatically improve your advertising options.

Affiliate Marketing Nightmare - Dont Let This Happen To You!

Everyone knows that affiliates can make or break a company's success rate. Ken Evoy has a whole army of people motivated to earn click-through commissions on his Site Sell program. Marlon Sanders and Yanik Silver have made fortunes with (and for) their affiliates.

"If you've got an e-commerce website," I was frequently told by my internet savvy friends, "you have GOT to have an affiliate program." I took that to heart. "Ok!" I said, and when I created www.ArticleMarketer.com, I made sure that I developed a compelling offer for affiliates.

So what's the nightmare? Here I had created the perfect program for affiliates and what kind of results was I getting? None. Nada. Zilch. A big fat zero. There was no lineup of affiliates banging at the door.

Has this happened to you? Is your affiliate program going nowhere? Here is the step-by-step analysis of what makes an affiliate program take off, and how my results were impacted by each one.

Offer a good deal ? make it worth their while

Affiliates will not promote your product because it "feels good". An emotional payoff might be sufficient for non-profit organizations or political campaigns, but that's not enough in the cold, hard world of e-commerce. Affiliates are looking for products and services that quickly convert to sale.

Affiliates don't mind pre-selling your goods to their lists and visitors, but you have got to make it worth their effort. Don't be cheap. Give your affiliates a good deal. Unless you're selling Lear Jets or Rolls Royces, that 5% commission you are thinking about isn't going to get anyone excited about being your representative.

How did I fare against this point? I nailed it. I made sure to offer 50% commissions and a lifetime customer program. Residual and recurring revenue are automatic. For any customer that one of my affiliates sends to my site, they get paid. Not just on the first sale either. They get paid every time that person spends money, renews a subscription, or buys something else.

But evidently that was not enough. I had my program set up to offer a good, profitable deal for affiliates. So I moved to the next point:

Provide personal service ? be responsive

Affiliates are your business partners, not cattle to be herded. Treat them with respect, provide them with the tools they need to be successful, and be responsive when your affiliates ask for help, guidance or tools. In the end, it will make things better for you. Make sure you take care of your affiliates.

Well I am a naturally outgoing guy, so I have a tendency to reach out to customers, partners and business associates. It's just who I am. I like people. I send email, write articles, post in the blog ? I'm a communicative guy. I've got my phone number on the site, and I personally answer my phone. So personal service couldn't be my problem. But still, why weren't people signing up to be affiliates? I moved on to the next point:

Why You?

It's likely that you're not the only company offering the chance to sell a product or service like yours. Give your prospective affiliates a reason to choose your program over your competitor's. Do you do it faster, better, cheaper? Why is it going to be easier and more profitable to sell for you than for someone else? Why do you deserve their attention? Why do you deserve the attention of their visitors?

With 20 years of direct sales under my belt, I certainly know how to craft a presentation to crush my competition. I put direct comparisons to other article submission services right on my home page. I created an instructional video to make it easy to submit articles. Audio prompts explain every step of the way. I have a long listing of places that articles are submitted. There is no reason someone would want to do article submission on their own (because it's tedious) or with any of my competitors (they don't have the reach, and their prices are exorbitant) so I knew that there was no problem in this area. So I moved on to the final point.

Promote! Promote! Promote!

You have to be as diligent in promoting your affiliate program as you are in promoting your products. You have to let people know that you've got a great deal for them. You must let people know that you have an affiliate program, you must provide tools, banners, graphics, articles, ads, and links that they can use to drive traffic to your site.

This was my problem. I was suffering under a "If you build it, they will come" delusion, and it almost killed my response. I didn't even know how hidden my affiliate link was, until I had a conversation (remember, I'm a talkative guy) with a new affiliate. She was an existing customer. She had been to the site, pored over it, in fact, and had asked questions. She had used our services, so when I asked her what prompted her sudden interest in joining the affiliate program, I was shocked by her response. "I didn't even know you were set up for affiliates until I read it Michael Campbell's Internet Marketing Secrets newsletter. (www.internetmarketingsecrets.com) When I saw that he was telling people how great your service was, I said, "Hey, I can do that!"

So it wasn't until I started promoting the service that I discovered how important it is to promote the affiliate program as much as it is to promote the article submission service itself. To ensure that it's easy to find, I have moved the affiliate link on my site. It's now prominently displayed right in my main navigation and clearly marked "Become an Affiliate".

I hope that you'll take this story to heart and implement these four techniques. Start by adjusting your program, make sure you talk with your customers, check your value proposition, and then begin trumpeting your affiliate program from the rooftops. You'll see a quick improvement in your affiliate sign ups!

The Truth in Advertising

Most of us have seen at least a dozen different toothpaste commercials that claim, "Three out of four dentists recommend...." You may have wondered, as I did, how each of these claims could be possibly be true. They are based on statistical evidence, so why are there such varied results? If you listen to advertising, there seems to be no clear consensus on which health-related products--aspirin, cough syrup, antihistamines--are the best.

They are all recommended by 3 out of 4 professionals. Is it possible they are making false claims? The truth is that they are all telling the truth. When it comes to marketing a health product, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is always watching to make sure advertisers never tell a lie. Statements such as _____ reduces the risk of cancer, ______ removes harmful toxins from your water, or _____ fights plaque and reduces gingivitis, must all be substantiated. In other words, the products must do what they claim. To avoid the wrath of the FTC, it is always best to tell the truth about your product or service, especially in the health industry. But what is truth? In subjective terms it is difficult to discern.

However, the FTC has many guidelines to help you find truth in your advertising:

*Before you run an ad, you have to have a "reasonable basis" for your claims. A "reasonable basis" is objective evidence that supports the claim. At a minimum, an advertiser must have the level of evidence that it claims to have. The statement "two out of three doctors recommend..." must be supported by a reliable survey.

*If the ad isn't specific, the FTC looks at several factors to determine what level of proof is necessary, including what experts in the field think is needed to support the claim.

*Ads that make health or safety claims must be supported by "competent and reliable scientific evidence" - tests, studies, or other scientific evidence that has been evaluated by people qualified to interpret it. Any tests or studies must be conducted using methods that experts in the field deem acceptable.

These are just a few of the guidelines to consider when making an advertising claim. But don't be too worried. As long as you tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, there is no reason to keep looking over your shoulder.
